Los republicanos de Texas quieren convertir el Estado en una Teocracia cristiana --------------------------- The GOP war against secularism continued in Texas on Tuesday when a Republican state senator used his inauguration speech to compare it to the Holocaust. Upon taking the oath of office, Charles Perry made it clear that he’s going to do everything he can to tear apart the foundational values of our nation and replace them with religious extremism. Because apparently, America isn’t enough like Iran yet. As many other conservatives have done in the past, Perry trotted out the horrors of Nazi Germany to argue in favor of turning America into a Christian state where biblical law reigns supreme instead of the Constitution. He described a scene where people are led like lambs to their own executions and compared that to government making laws that Christians don’t approve of. There were 10,000 people that were paraded into a medical office under the guise of a physical. As they stood with their back against the wall, they were executed with a bullet through the throat. Before they left, 10,000 people met their fate that way. Is it not the same when our government continues to perpetuate laws that lead citizens away from God? The only difference is that the fraud of the Germans was more immediate and whereas the fraud of today’s government will not be exposed until the final days and will have eternal-lasting effects. Obviously, this isn’t surprising, but it’s still wrong nonetheless. Clearly, the government is not executing or persecuting anyone because of their religious beliefs, which is exactly what the Nazis did. The willful ignorance of what Nazis are all about has plagued the GOP for years. Perhaps a look in a mirror is in order. Here’s just quick list of Nazi characteristics. Notice anything interesting? • Obsessed with national power and pride. • Rule of the few. • Survival of the fittest. • Media as a political propaganda machine. • Obsessed with security and war. • Indoctrination. • Re-writing history. • Hatred of intellectuals. • Hatred of communists. • Obsessed with keep women in the home. • Align yourself strongly with corporations. • Racial superiority. • Hatred of unions. • Election rigging. • Creating scapegoats to blame problems. And last but not least… • Obsessed with Christianity and with creating a Christian state. As you can also see, secularism is not a Nazi or fascist characteristic. It’s a trait of a democratic republic that has separated the civil power from the ecclesiastical power. Combining them is a dangerous action that leaves the nation and government vulnerable and far less representative of the people. Constitutional law would be disregarded and replaced with a religious book that only favors those who practice that particular religion. Texas does not need people like Charles Perry in positions of power. The state needs someone who will represent everyone in the state no matter what religion they practice. Imposing one’s religious beliefs onto the rest of the population is unconstitutional and contrary to what America is all about. It’s about religious and personal freedom. What Republicans like Perry are preaching would do the exact opposite and Nazis would feel right at home.
