Loud – Shrill reporting of Uttarkhand Floods Really ridiculous and disgusting reporting of flood situation in Uttarkhand (UK). The language used either Hindi or English is pathetic. The expressions like ‘sirf aur sirf’, barbadi, bebasi, atank, tabahi etc are used again and again till they are dried of all the meaning. Moreover, the flood is conceptualized as a terrorist attack. The language used doesn’t reflect anywhere that it is a natural calamity. Moreover, the language is used in a broken fashion. One reporter said ‘jab yatri Mandir me ghuuse to’. Another reporter in English kept on saying ‘the kind of’ for hundreds of time in a 3-4 minute reporting. Prepositions were wrongly used. The language use can just be said as absolute bankruptcy of emotions, imagination, and seriousness. Every channel reached first to the spot. Everyone reported the things for the first time simultaneously. Everyone put their ‘jaan’ in ‘jokhim’ to inform the world. I wonder whether ‘yatris’ were in ‘jokhim’ or the reporters who went their aftermath of floods to report.
