Love Not the World, Neither the Things that are in the World God - TopicsExpress

Love Not the World, Neither the Things that are in the World God declares in 1 John 2:15, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." By comparing scripture with scripture, this post will attempt to use the Bible as its own dictionary and commentary to discuss this important topic. The purpose of this posr is to encourage everyone to study the Bible -- only there can we be sure of truth. Remember, God’s words in Matthew 4:8-9! After Jesus was in a weakened state, Satan (the prince of this earth) offered him the glories of this world. Christians, too, will be tempted by Satan with the things of this world. So much so that God tells us in Matthew 24:22 that if He did not shorten the tribulation not even the elect would be saved. God declares in 1 Timothy 6:7-10, “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment, let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Likewise Job 1:21 records Job’s prayer after losing every including his family. “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave and the Lord taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” May God give us all hearts like Job. Be strong in the Lord! Whenever you feel weak, read your Bible because God’s word is the spiritual food that sustains us. Only through the faith of Jesus will any of us be able to declare God’s wonderful words found in 2 Timothy 4:7. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
