Love this story! Thank you Nelie for rescuing Xiao MAMA. Nelie Aucamp shared Monica Mos photo. Xiao Mama, the dog I rescued on May 5th, 2013, left the hospital after more than 5 months. Her hospital bill was well over a nt100 000. For more than two years I took care of her on the street. I never had the privilege of touching her while she was a stray. She was always alert. As small as what she is, she was top dog most of the time. When I saw her the first time, 2 or 3 years ago, she was in a bad physical state. She just had puppies, she had skin disease and she was skin and bones. She slowly recovered purely because she got food and clean water every day. Then I saw her that dark night around 10pm. I still dont know how I saw the injury in the darkness of the forest close to The Grasslands. I stopped my car and my suspicion was confirmed... she was severely injured. I was in shock. She was calm. I could smell the infection from a distance. I started talking to her, begging her to allow me to help her. Slowly, slowly I moved closer. More than an hour later I had her in my car. That night I slept with her in my car. The next morning I drove to Taipei to the Tie Da University Hospital, I knew this injury needed specialists. I couldnt see if she still had her tongue and her bottom jaw on the left side of her face. The people at the hospital told me she needed emergency care, I told them well have to wait. I cant afford it. I walked away from the people who were waiting to see the vets, tears rolling down my cheeks. The next moment some lady told me to go to emergency. Somebody who saw us will pay. It was a chain reaction of support that just arrived. So many people who just walked into our upside-down world and rescued both of us. There are so many people to thank. This list I will make soon. The most important people I have to thank immediately is Linda Chang, Juno Lin and Alison Wu. They organized everything, most importantly they handled the money. Then thank you to all the Jesse Wang, who relieved me from all financial responsibility. Needless to say how much I appreciated that. The doctors of the hospital, THANK YOU!!! Mama Mo (Monica), who adopted Xiao Mama, visited Xiao Mama every day for 5 months. She saw the story of Xiao Mama on Facebook and started supporting Xiao Mama. Hundreds of people have been supporting the recovery of Xiao Mama. Xiao Mama was scheduled to get a face lift , reconstructive surgery, but because her recovery was so remarkable, it was cancelled. Everybodys love and compassion contributed to her healing and her new life. A huge THANK YOU to all of you. I rescued another dog tonight. Luckily no medical emergency. I will tell her story tomorrow. Compassion creates... MAGIC. The web of safety for the animals at risk in Taiwan is growing every day. HALLELUJA!!!
