Love your forks! Salad Fork – Salad forks are relatively large and usually the starting fork, with large prongs to pierce leaves. The fork does not come with a salad knife. Remember - While eating, never cut’ the leaf of lettuce. The ideal way of doing it is to fold the lettuce over several times, grasp it with the fork, and eat the entire thing at once. Oyster Fork - This is a small fork with two or three prongs and a small handle. Oyster forks come paired with small oyster knives, with a short, sharp blade and a thick handle, for in- shell oysters. Remember- Use the knife to force open the halves of the oyster. Twist the handle to separate the halves and then use the fork to pick out the oyster inside. Dessert Forks - They resemble salad forks. Remember - It is placed directly above the dinner plate or charger and is used for eating cakes, pies, and pastries that follow dinner. Cold Meat Forks – These can be used for cuts of meat, cheeses, waffles, chops, and sliced vegetables. Two pronged (tine) butter picks- They are usually used for lifting and serving butter from a butter pat. Fish Serving Forks- These are used for the lifting, holding, and serving of fish. Sandwich Forks- They are used for serving finger sandwiches. Sugar Tongs - They are basically required to pick cubes of sugar.
