Low Centimorgan Scandinavian/Finnish Matches and the Latvian Connection This is about looking at low centimorgan Scandinavian/Finnish matches matches to see if they match both my mom and me on Gedmatch to see if they are relevant. It is also to look for any possible genetic connection between Scandinavia/Finland and Latvia where my maternal grandmothers maternal grandmother was born. Both her parents were born in Latvia. Note Gerda matches both my mom and me on 2 locations It looks like my mom and I have Scandinavian/Finnish ancestry. My maternal grandmothers maternal grandmother was from Latvia. I suspected that there is actually Scandinavian ancestry on her side of the family. Latvia is located across the sea from Sweden. On Gedmatch, my mom has a match with Alla Ekina of Latvia that cannot be questioned because its over 7 cM. The same goes for me.
