Lucille O’Rourke Tiki Memorial Bikeathon Ride 9 Fall Foliage Ramble Tuesday, October 28th, I headed out on the 9th bike ride in the Tiki Memorial Bikeathon. Due to a cancellation in my work schedule I was able to take the afternoon off and decided to just ramble around locally on my bike looking at fall foliage. This ride took about 3 hours to do. I didnt keep track of the miles. The first segment of the ride was a meandering around Forge Pond in Brick. The weather was clear and that combined with the fall foliage provided an eye pleasing panorama of the pond and its environs. I took many pictures and it was quite a job editing them and choosing which ones to post here. Next I followed the Metedeconk River which feeds Forge Pond along Route 88 to Lake Shenandoah across from Ocean County Park. I spent the rest of the afternoon here riding trails all around the lake. Again this was a mother lode of scenic picture opportunities. Also I was glad that I had decided to ride my all-terrain bike instead of my road bike because while the trails at Lake Shenandoah could be navigated by a road bike, they are a little rough in spots. Also there are numerous dirt trails that branch off from the main trail which would require an off road bike for exploration. This was a very enjoyable ride in the woods and I plan to explore this area more in the future. The bonus is it is close to home. I am posting pictures of the ride here with some commentary on the photos.
