Lynch on Leadership: Kingdom leadership development carries unique markers. Using any measurements from the world system leaves us distracted to the point of substitution and allows us to redefine leadership as it relates to kingdom. Why should we separate leadership development from discipling? Jesus designed discipling to develop destiny. That is, the entire process of training, teaching, mentoring, disciplining, measuring, fathering a person as an emerging and functioning kingdom leader is discipling. This discipling develops destiny, so it is uniquely personal and individualized in application whether the person functions at an international level or is the bishop of the building with oversight to maintain cleanliness and environment. The modern definition of discipleship has become a preparation for baptism and membership in the church-anity club or localized expression of the accumulation of believers because the modern church lost kingdom from its definition and function. A return to discipline can be and should formalized. That is, it should have clear measurements that mean something in terms of kingdom function: kingdom leadership functions mean that an apostle can function as an apostle at some level or sphere of leadership as the apostle emerges into greater grasp of destiny; a prophet can function as a prophet at some level or sphere of foundational leader as a the prophet emerges into a greater grasp of destiny; and, so on with all the leadership dynamics of kingdom leadership Jesus bestowed upon the Body. in this way, and only in this way, does discipling then properly prepare and position every member of His Body in their personal and individualized destiny development. The complex spiritual systems of the Ecclesia are fivefold and the members respond to this complexity by full function in their prepared and positioned places. The complexity simplified by Holy Spirits direct involvement in the process. In this way, Jesus is more involved in His Body than ever before, and the entitlement of leadership as titled position disappears. The serving aspect of kingdom leadership makes sense to leaders who are serving the whole Body by serving the members of the Body assigned to their leadership. The formal training of leaders should be local and personal, without the degrading deformity of conformity that liberal arts and even seminary training can produce, the end point of which can mean the graduate knows a whole lot about stuff that doesnt matter and cant do ministry without someone discipling them. The formal training of leaders at every level should be more than How to Lead a Deacons Meeting or Procedures for Receiving and Counting the Offering. People are discipled if they are being taught how to fit a program or corporate culture. The kingdom has its own culture and mission without developing distractions to that culture and mission that become substitutes. In reality, running a tight ship as an executive with great administrators should never become the defining measurement of a kingdom leader. Designing simple systems for administration and finding ways to continually make them more simple keeps the kingdom leader from expending his highest and best in administrative staff meetings, internal staff issues, and having a feeling of achievement because the staff seems to be happy about things. Soon, the kingdom leader is thinking that this administrative team is running the ministry because they are! And, they are actually ruining the ministry because the Ecclesia isnt doing the ministry of Jesus as much as it is doing the ministry that answers to unspiritual and unBiblical expectations and demands of carnal people who have had little if any kingdom discipling. I simple refuse to give my life, emotional energy, creativity, and destiny in ministry to staff meetings, program planning, dropping balloons from the ceiling for the spring push, and problem-solving how to make parents happy about the fact their youth dont want to go to church and what are you gonna do about it. (The answer to this problem is parental in nature.) In short, establishing kingdom culture and training leaders to live kingdom culture is the and His righteousness part of Jesus foundational instruction to Seek primary Gods kingdom. It means that discipling must be measured by an individuals fulfillment of his purpose. It means that Jesus designed the Ecclesia in such a way that an individual citizen of the kingdom will best and only fulfill purpose through proper preparation and positioning with in the Body to do the work of serving that Bodys kingdom assignments.
