M. B. Rajesh, Member of Parliament and CPIM leader ends his hunger strike on the following demands on the basis of which the major decisions taken by the Kerala Cabinet. An I.A.S officer has been appointed as nodal officer to coordinate projects by various departments. 1. A monitoring committee involving MP, MLA, President District Panchayath and other representatives of local bodies in Attapady will be formed. 2. To coordinate activities of health department, Deputy DMO, Palakkad will be given exclusive charge of Attapady. He will be relieved from all other duties. 3. Treasury ban will not be applicable to tribal welfare schemes in Attapady. 4. From December onwards 200 days of employment will be assured under MGNREGS and at the rate of Rs.214/- per day. 5. Rupees 2 crores will be allocated under NRHM as additional assistance. 6. 14 primary health sub centres will be renovated. 7. Rupees 76 crores allocated for the construction of 16 roads. 8. More anganwadis will be constructed in cooperation with department of labour. 9. All works in Attapady will be completed within a year. 10. Ragi will be supplied through ration shops and the cabinet assigned the responsibility of importing ragi to the civil supplies minister. 11. District Collector will directly monitor drinking water supply in Attapady. 12. Community kitchens will be re-instated with immediate effect and the programme will be handed over to Kudumbasree. 13. Finally Vattalaki Farming society has got 1200acres of land. The Government has decided to wind up the society and distribute the land to land less tribals. Ministers for forests, Revenue and Tribal development have been given the responsibility to implement this.
