MACAULAY WARNS AGAINST ELECTION CONFLICTS SECRETARY to Delta State Government, SSG, Mr. Ovuozourie Macaulay weekend, has appealed to the people of the state to reduce conflicts over elections, urging all the ethnic groups in the state to build bridges of unity just as Chief Julius Ogboru led leaders and elders of Ethiope East Local Government Area to pay him a solidarity visit. Macaulay, at his Owhologbo country home, when he played host to Isoko elders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Abraka community, the state Performing Musicians Employee Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Ellu community and President Generals of Owhe Kingdom, said once the bridge of unity was built, there would be no animosity among ethnic groups in the state. Enjoining the people to improve on the unity existing amongst the various groups in the state, he assured the Abraka community that the state government would continue to pay attention to the university community, adding, “giving the Abraka people four transformers is just the beginning. Government is going to look into the township roads in Abraka. “As a matter of fact, I know some of the roads have been cleared and once the budget is out, I am going to liaise with the Commissioner for Works and of course, get the approval of the governor for us to look into some of the internal roads in Abraka. The development of Abraka is of concern to everybody and we are going to do more.” Chief Ogboru commended the SSG and the Delta State government for the provision of democratic dividends in Ethiope East saying the people of the area have benefitted immensely from the Uduaghan administration. Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Transition Committee, Mr. Sunday Onoriode, thanked the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Macaulay for their effort in the development of the Abraka community. According to him, Abraka community was written off after the 2011 elections, expressing joy that the SSG had put smiles on their faces last year with the installation of four transformers in Abraka. He also assured that the issue of township roads would be addressed.
