MADNESS The MADNESS (concept-trailer) was written, directed, photographed & edited by Tyrone Bryan Starring: Angeliki Ve as Leyla Oskar Levis as Majnun Daniela Torres Laura Gomez Music: Teargas & Plateglass, Black Triage, 2013 Waxploitation Records MADNESS is a 2 part Fashion-Film based on the original story of “ Possessed by madness for Layla” an ancient Middle Eastern legend with origins dating back from 12th century Iran. Set in post-apocalyptic Europe, the film follows two youths ( from different regional tribes ) who both escape their homeland where a brutal, civil war has erupted. Leyla & Majnun are on opposing sides of the war: She from the Revisionist-Circle and he from the Square-syndicate. Young Leyla is orderd by her Mother and Father to quickly break free from this extremely dangerous region where genocide is taking place. Deeply repulsed by the bloodshed his tribe is responsible for, Majnun defects from the Square Syndicate. Leyla & Majnun leave behind her only home and family and set off on their separate journeys of ultimate freedom and jarring, self-discovery. They travel through the dark wilderness and deserted landscapes of the war ravish earth in search of an oasis. 3 months time passes and as fate dictacts, these soulmates arrive at the same bombed-out castle over 1000km from their home. Their wild imaginations and keen resourcefulness act as their only tools for survival. While refusing to engage in any physical contact, Leyla & Majnun express their curious desires solely through a series of love letters that they spread around the castle’s floor as well as open air confessions. On occasion, Majnun’s “Madness” takes hold and he is startled by hallucination of Leya. Leyla & Majnun are so overwhelmed by this mutual and elemental reduction of affection, they sacrifice themselves on the strength of their self-defeating natures.
