MAGNIFIED! by Simeon Afolabi “And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee” Joshua 3:7 When God magnifies a person or a place He turns what is ordinary to super-ordinary. Take two examples for consideration. Joshua began his career under the prophet Moses. When he first came up on historical radar he was a personal staff of Moses. The King James Version of the Bible actually described him as the servant of Moses. When Moses exited the scene God beckoned on him to lead the people of Israel. Here we see a domestic staff, if you like, rising to be the leader of God’s precious people. This is one of the most stunning risings you can get in all of history. Early in his leadership, God promised to magnify Joshua before the people; and He did. Joshua became one of the most successful leaders that Israel had. Now, take a look at how God can magnify a place. Two days ago we noticed that Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem. A manger, you remember, is a box for holding and feeding horses or cattle. Nothing can be more ordinary than this. That spot is where you have the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem today. Every year millions of people around the world go to Bethlehem to go and see the spot where the Lord was born. In their wildest imagination Joseph and Mary could never have known that the ordinary corner in the stable will become a tourist attraction. God has what it takes to turn the ordinary things of your life to things of glory that will draw the attention of the world.
