MAIN STAGE AUDITIONS All Shook Up ALL SHOOK UP Directed by Rusty Burns Music Direction by Richard Gwozdz AUDITIONS: October 20 and 21, 2014 from 7pm – 10pm CALLBACKS – the following week by invitation only. Auditions will be held at 404 East Pipeline Road, Hurst, Texas in the former Belaire lobby While walk-ins are welcome, an appointment is recommended, which can be made by calling the box office at 817 284 1200 or emailingauditions@artisanct. If you cannot make it to the audition date, please contact us to see if there are any other available times. The first half of each hour of auditions will consist of appointments to sing. The second half of each hour will be spent learning and executing a dance combination. A script to read will be in the box office during box office hours (M-F 10am-6pm and Sat 10am-4pm) after Monday October 6, 2014 Artisan Center Theater Box Office is located at 444 East Pipeline Road in the Belaire Shopping Plaza in Hurst, Texas 76053 AUDITION PREPARATION: Be prepared to sing and dance. Songs in the style of ALL SHOOK UP are recommended and songs from the show are encouraged. Bring sheet music in your key or an accompaniment CD. You may be asked to cold read from the script. Please bring a list of all definite and potential conflicts for the rehearsal period Nov 1 – Jan 1, and performance schedule of Jan 2 – 31, 2015. If you have a headshot and resume, please bring it. Looking for high-energy performers with strong comedic abilities. All roles are available. Callbacks: Those whom the production team wishes to see again may be invited to a callback. They will be looking to see how well the candidates look together and for chemistry between certain roles. Casting: Shows are generally double cast. Double Cast 1 – M/F/Sat Matinee; Double Cast 2 – T/Th/Sat Eve. REHEARSALS: Rehearsals begin on or after November 1, 2014 and will generally be Mon – Thurs (7-10pm) and Saturdays 10am – 2pm. PRODUCTION DATES: January 2 – January 31, 2015, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 7:30pm, and Saturdays at 3pm and 7:30pm, for a total of 32 performances. Performances may be added. There will be a special New Year’s Eve event at which there will be two performances of ALL SHOOK UP. ABOUT ALL SHOOK UP: Set in 1955, ALL SHOOK UP tells the story of a square little town in the middle of a square state in the middle of a square decade where a lonely young girl dreams of hitting the open road. Into her life rides a guitar-playin’ roustabout who changes everything. Combining all-time favorite Elvis hits with a healthy dose of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, ALL SHOOK UP is surefire fun for rock ‘n’ roll fans of all ages! ROLES AVAILABLE (MAY BE DOUBLE CAST): FEMALE ROLES: Natalie/Ed, 18-30, Alto: A mechanic more comfortable in overalls than a dress. Works at her widowed fathers gas station. She pretends to be a guy to get close to the dreamy Chad after he shows no interest in Natalie. Strong singer and move-weller/dancer a plus. Sings: One Night With You, Follow That Dream, Love Me Tender, A Little Less Conversation + Miss Sandra, 25-35, Alto: The beautiful new curator of the town museum becomes the love interest that Chad and Jim wish to have for their own. But she wants substance in a guy…a guy just like Ed. Good comic timing. Strong singer & move-weller. Dancer a plus. Sings: Hound Dog, Let Yourself Go Lorraine, 17-21, Strong Belt: The daughter of Sylvia who runs the local diner. She finds puppy love with Dean. Strong singer & move-weller Sings: Heartbreak Hotel, That’s All Right, It’s Now or Never, If I Can Dream Sylvia, 35-50, Strong Belt/Alto-Soprano II: The owner of the local diner where folks gather because, let’s face it, there is not much to do in this town. Her acerbic wit hides a secret love. Sings: Heartbreak Hotel, That’s All Right, There’s Always Me Mayor Matilda Hyde, 40-55, Alto: Self-appointed moral compass of her town. Her son, Dean, is being shipped off to a military school because he’s become too cozy with Lorraine. Great comic timing. Funny. Must move well. Sings: Devil in Disguise MALE ROLES: Chad, 21-35, Baritone/Tenor: A great-looking young roustabout in the James Dean, Elvis Presley mold. His arrival in town and magnetism affects everyone! Guitar playing a plus. Sings: Jailhouse Rock, C’mon Everybody, Follow That Dream, Teddy Bear + Dennis, 18-25, Tenor: A sensitive, young, would-be dentist. A ‘50s nerd, he makes George McFly look like Marlon Brando. He’s in love with Natalie and would do anything for her, though she sees him only as a friend. Eventually he finds love in Miss Sandra. Great comedic character. Guitar-playing a plus. Sings: Heartbreak Hotel, It Hurts Me Dean Hyde, 17-22, Tenor: The straight-laced son of Mayor Matilda. She’s shipping him back to military school to put distance between Dean and his new puppy-love Lorraine. They fancy their sweet relationship a modern day Romeo & Juliet. Strong move-meller. Dancing abilities a plus. Sings: It’s Now Or Never, If I Can Dream Jim Haller, 40-60, Baritone: Natalie’s father, widowed three years, is finally ready to find love again, even if it means turning back into a teenager. He eventually finds love with Sylvia. Sings: Heartbreak Hotel, Don’t Be Cruel Sheriff Earl, 40-65, Baritone: An imposing man usually of few words, loyal Sheriff Earl has spent years at the beck and call of Mayor Matilda, enforcing all of her strict laws. But is his interest strictly professional? Sings: Can’t Help Falling In Love Reprise ENSEMBLE, ages 14-99: Strong ensemble needed. Dancers who sing, singers who dance to play various townspeople and supporting characters.
