MAINTAIN HIGH ACADEMIC STANDARD KWANKWASO TASKS NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state has tasked the governing council Northwest University, Kano to set enviable standard capable of making the university one of the best in the country. Receiving the chairman and members of the governing council, during a courtesy visit in his office, Governor Kwankwaso said that the success of the new university rests largely on the foundation laid by the council and management of the institution. He explained that the state government is ready to fund the university to ensure that its mission and vision are achieved, stressing that government will continue to work together with the council for the university to stand on its feet. The governor stated that he is optimistic that with the calibre of the people managing the Northwest University and the state University of Technology Wudil, the two citadels of learning will eventually emerge as the highest ranking tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Earlier in his address, the Pro- chancellor and chairman of the governing council of the university, Alhaji Sule Yahaya Hamma, MFR said that they are at government house to intimate the governor on the level of progress of the university and exchange ideas on the way forward. He said that the on-going physical developments at the permanent site of the university, located at Kabuga area of Kano metropolis, has re- defined the zeal and enthusiasm of governor Kwankwaso for educational development, pointing out that the governor shall always be remembered for establishing the university. The Chairman said that the council is working relentlessly toward carving out a distinctive image for the institution, emphasizing that since it is now competing with the other universities in the country, it ought to stand out to achieve its objectives.
