MALAGA WEATHER UPDATE Monday 7th July 2014: Good morning group and a very warm welcome to all the new members!!!......MIJAS FIRE UPDATE!!!......In case you dont know, the Mijas Fire was officially declared extinguished late last night but reignited near the Fuengirola Caravan Park just before 01:00am, put out again but reports do indicate there is more damping down required!!!.......And, another fire was declared within this group last night in Almogia and we are awaiting update on both and will post up in the comments as soon as we hear!!!......Great postings, photographs and information as always from the members on both events!!!........Other news: I am pleased to advise that the British Embassy in Madrid reacted to the great information being given by the groups multinational members yesterday and promoted the Local Fire & Weather Watch across there media at the height of the Mijas Fire!!!.......This was picked up by other web sites and the group now has over 4300 members looking out for each other......I will get to the weather; honestly!!!......Jill Leonard, the founder of this group and the greater network that extends up the coast of Spain and the Islands, has some other fantastic news to share I believe later in the day on that Chinese Lantern issue so something to look forward too if it remains quite!!!.......So, to the Weather we turn.......Today those temperatures are going to bounce back up having been somewhat subdued yesterday.....which was nice!!!.....If you are up on the Antequera plain and across to Ronda and down much of the far west we are Likely to start the day under some cloud. Yes, there is risk of a shower from it and it may be thick enough to be fully overcast towards the Granada Border but dont panic, it will evaporate as the day proceeds revealing that glorious sunshine that the rest of the province will enjoy all day!!!......But, do watch those winds again today as they will be very gusty in places particularly in the far West that is Manilva!!!......As for the rest of the week, its fun in the sun!!!.....That sunshine will reign supreme right through into next weekend although wind will abound at times and we may see those odd fluffy bits float on past!!!.......Still no weather threat showing on the Medium/Long range for us at this time but we remain ever vigilant for any changes!!!.......And that is your current wonderful weather for today!!!.......I did promise the existing members an education subject today but in view of the large fire yesterday, the possible on going fire in Almogia and the large amount of new members I am going to just postpone the information until tomorrow providing we get a quite period......For all you new members this Weather Update is daily, providing Im not ill, dying, drunk, asleep, drugged, tied up by the wife......oops!!!......sorry dear, didnt mean to say that!!!......If you care to scroll back through to previous weather updates you will find a feast of very informative edjumacation subjects including where your tap water actually does come from and fairly recently just after the huge Competa Fire, a very useful timeline on the event detailing the amount of work and expertise that goes into fighting a fire!!!........I am not about to do one on the Mijas Fire as the info is still fresh from a few days ago so do review it. My posts can sometimes be long and can often be humorous!!!......Well I think so at least!!!.......and they are designed to break the monotony of what is hoped will be long periods of not a lot happening!!!.....However, of late this group and many others in the network have been very busy......When a fire or weather threat is with us then you will note that the humour stops. You may also all care to note that there is a strict NO ADVERTISING policy in any of the groups and if you do, the post will be deleted and so will you!!!......Anyway, I am sure our Commander-in-Chef Jill Leonard (M as we like to call her) will have something to say later as she runs a tight group with the aid of Deborah Baine (that ones Q) and, I am proud to announce, Moi!!!.....Yes, as of last night magic powers were bestowed upon me and I have been demoted to Admin in the groups so if Phil or Michael gives me any back chat I DELETE YOU!!!......Oh, the power!!!......I even got given the dreaded Locked Thread Symbol......a bloody great big one at that!!!......So enough for today, welcome new members, keep up that great work existing members of looking out for and posting up fire and other safety issues affecting the group and rejoice in the knowledge that yet again, right here on the LFWW network, the news on the Mijas Fire broke before the emergency services had even reacted......What a fantastic group......And one more important piece of info before I close; if you are following this wonderful group on an iPad, there were lots of issues last night with people using the iPad not being able to see whole threads yet still getting the posting messages!!!.....Its the Facebook app thats the problem. Close it and open Facebook via Safari and hey presto, all is revealed.......at this point I used to say Jim fixed it for you but these days I could get arrested using that very British catchphrase!!!.........Jim Fraser for the Local Fire & Weather Watch Network :)
