MALAGA WEATHER UPDATE Tuesday 20th May 2014: Whoops!!!......Hello peeps......Obviously didnt wake up fully this morning and ended up posting this update on the Granada Group Page!!!........Sorry!!!........Do you want the good news or do you want the good news???......Depending on what side of the fence you sit on will depend on what good news is yours!!!......If your one of those currently dancing that merry jig for rain to fall then the good news is that its still on its way and if you are up in the inland high areas you may even see a wee dram today!!!.....However, if you are one of those fun in the sun types who dont give a hind leg off a donkey whether the parched earth gets some much needed rain, its good news for you too!!!.....That horrible weather coming our way has shifted its time frame and is to arrive earlier than first thought!!!.....That means the bulk of the rain will arrive during the wee hours Tomorrow morning, be with us as we rise from our slumber, and be probably gone by the afternoon opening the skys to that sunshine again. The mountains and some inland areas may not fair well in the afternoon tomorrow with probable clouds still abundant, but overall a better picture for Wednesday than we were looking at in yesterdays forecast!!!.....There is, this morning, a very slight risk of showers over the west of the province and, as hinted up yonder, possibly rain up in the high ground. We are certainly going to see a lot of cloud about today as that weather starts to rush on land from the Atlantic!!!.....However, we may get a good break from the cloud later in the day particularly along the coast and that will allow the sun to shine in its entirety!!!.......Now, word to the wise so pay attention!!!.......Those awful winds are going to pick up again; not the blustery stuff that is driving Jill Leonard, the founder of this network of groups, insane; proper strong winds!!!.......We are likely to see the wind speed rise along most coastal areas as today progresses and come tomorrow they are going to be at their strongest. Not expecting any advisos in Malaga Province for winds or any other weather related issues at this time but we should remain vigilant just in case something sinister gathers over our heads, so stay tuned during this rain period!!!.....Friday and through the weekend is not looking bad along the coast but those winds may just remain a feature. However, we may see additional rain move in across the mountains Friday or Saturday as a number of cold fronts sweep over Spain in quick succession!!!......As we move into next week the weather picture is currently looking good for Monday but we may have a bit more rain coming Tuesday moving in from the Med and the East this time. A bit early to say for sure yet but will, as always, keep you abreast of things developing on the weather front!!!........Now, a bit of useless information, but our good friends at the Hamburg Meteorological Office up there in Germany have given the low pressure system that is to give us rain an adoptive (a name)!!!.......Before panic sets in and your head rushes off one way and your body goes in the opposite direction, I must stress to all the new people who are joining us in a possible poor weather phase, that this is not America!!!.....The Upper North Atlantic weather systems are all given names by those guys up in Germany and not just the bad ones as they do in the States!!!......Our now to be relatively weak low pressure system has been christened only yesterday as Zeynep!!!......Its not a typo!!!.......Just to clarify these adoptives, Tropical storms that head towards the Americas that roll off the African Sub Continent are, when considered a threat, given a name by the United States weather service (NOAA). If the storm passes up the Eastern Seaboard of the good old USA and heads on over our way, any adoptive it has been given by the US Weather Service remains. The Americans will only name threatening low pressure systems that develop into Tropical Storms. These Tropical Storms are what can develop into Hurricanes!!!......However, the Hamburgers in Germany are the sole agency subscribing adoptives to weather systems coming off of the Americas towards Europe, this being our prevailing weather direction, and its done so on the basis that if it rotates its worthy of a name!!!......So, a name is given to high pressure and low pressure systems alike so when we advise you that a weather system has a name, unless were telling you to take cover, dont panic!!!.......May I remind you all that until we see water falling from that sky, that we are still at high risk of wild fire!!!......And even if we do see rain, it may not be enough to ease that risk so until someone official says otherwise, its our duty to keep those eyes peeled for smoke and call the emergency services on 112 if we see some!!!.......Thats it for today; Im off outside to check me drains again to make sure their clear of all debris. Fortunately some nice weather forecasting guy on this Facebook Page reminded me yesterday to do this......great service you have here!!!.......Oh, and get your friends on board as well!!!.....Who knows, there might be someone out there who actually knows all about weather forecasting!!!......Jim Fraser doing his bit for the Local Fire & Weather Watch Network :o
