MALIK DRUMMOND - STILL MISSING Date of Birth: June 3, 2012 Biracial (Black/White) Male Height: 3’0” Weight: 40 lbs Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown Missing: November 23, 2014 From: Searcy, AR NOTE: Some reports have claimed that Malik is autistic, however there is no medical documentation to support the claim what so ever. Malik Drummond has to have one of the most glowing smiles I have ever seen. This little man stole my heart before I even knew his name. LTWH Family member, Brandy Boyles Bullock, advocated for Malik and asked me to post his case. Thank you Brandy for being Malik’s angel advocate. November 23, 2014 is the day Malik disappeared into thin air according to his father and stepmother. So how did this entire disaster begin? On November 23, Malik’s father, Jeff Clifton, and stepmother, Lesley Clifton, reported that the little boy had just wandered off away from their home. Jeff Clifton was allegedly asleep in the house when Malik disappeared. So here’s the thing, there are quite a few variances in the story depending what news article your reading, but this is the general idea. Clifton was asleep in the home, while Lesley was taking a bath herself. Lesley allegedly got out of the bath to check on supper which was cooking when she noticed Malik was not there. When she asked Malik’s twin sister, Aryanna, where her brother was, the little girl pointed to the front door. The screen door was closed but the front door had been open. Jeff has stated that Malik has never been one to just walk out the door. With Malik missing, a search was organized. The search launched was massive and included numerous agencies collaborating their efforts. Amongst the Searcy Police Department, were the FBI, the White County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas Game and Fish, K9 Units, the NCMEC and hundreds of volunteers. Searches included the use of search dogs and cadaver dogs, helicopters and divers. Nothing was left untouched, land in and around the city was covered, the search of buildings, dumpsters, homes, apartments, abandoned homes and buildings, parks, ponds, creeks, vehicles, manhole covers were removed and checked with cameras, and sewers and bodies of water. Cadaver dogs did pick up Malik’s scent down by Little Red River, however divers have not been able to locate any sign of the little man, and there have been no further discoveries in the search for Malik thus far. Checkpoints were also another tool used by police, allowing them to question passing motorists asking if they had seen Malik. The vehicles which gave consent to police had their trunks searched and nothing was found. Everyone cooperated and stated that they will be watching for any information about the little boy. While these searches were being carried out, the investigation remained an active criminal one with police using tools such as lie detectors as part of their investigation, but they will not say who took the exams and what the results are. Malik’s twin sister Aryanna seems to be taking the disappearance of her brother the hardest. Drummond says that the little girl will not speak to anyone regarding her brother. She instead lowers her head and goes silent. Jeff Clifton had previously lost a son 10 years ago when the boy was struck by a vehicle after getting off of the school bus. Clifton says the memory of his son’s death is the nightmare haunting him once again. Now the family has stated that they believe Malik was in fact taken by someone. “The main thing is for him to be home safe, it’s not to get anybody in trouble. The main thing is to just bring my son home,” stated Clifton. Drummond echoed the belief saying “We think he was kidnapped, but we’re not sure. Worse comes to worst, that’s what we think.” It is quickly looking like our worst thoughts may be close to reality. Police have officially called off the search for Malik, stating investigators “cannot reasonably believe that the child is lost, or hiding waiting to be discovered anywhere near the area he could’ve travelled on his own”. Police Chief Jeremy Clark stated “While we are just as committed to finding Malik and the truth behind his disappearance, we’ve depleted the usefulness of volunteers to re-search areas that now must be cleared by trained personnel and experts who are focused on the only possible remaining scenarios.” He went on to say “I know there’s a lot of questions. There’s a lot of theories. There’s a lot of opinions. And, we have our own theories and our own opinions, just like everyone else. I assure you and the public that we are investigating every possible scenario that can be thought of and investigating it thoroughly.” Police are not ruling out the possibility of foul play. In fact at this point in the investigation officials have said that various forms of foul play are “the only possible remaining scenarios.” Corporal Steven Hernandez stated “It’s discouraging, disappointing, but we’re going to continue to do whatever it takes at those point to resolve this and find Malik. There’s not one suspect, per se. Right now, we’re looking at everybody. Police are staying pretty tight lipped, but I think we are very close to finding out what actually happened to Malik. Either way, we are going to be here to see this through to the end. Again, thank you so much Brandy for being Malik’s Angel Advocate! A candlelit vigil will be held for Malik this Saturday, December 12 at 5:30 pm. The vigil will be held at Berryhill Park should you like to attend.
