MAMA UPDATE: Sorry it took so long to post but we got lunch and took a little extra time away from the hospital then just came to our quiet little corner of the waiting room to talk amongst ourselves. As posted earlier, the surgery went well and the doc said that he took care of ALL the blockages rather than just the two of concern. We were told that the first two hours after surgery would be the most critical and they would watch her very closely. I like the way it is set up here. Each patient is assigned their own personal nurse which means that the nurse can devote ALL their time watching for any changes. We all came in the room while the nurse explained what to expect through the night in ICU and was very helpful in making us feel more at ease. An hour ago, we went in to see her. She is still on the vent but trying to wake up. Even though her eyes are closed, she will raise her eyebrows when you talk to her which made us all feel so much better. I feel like I can rest knowing that she is on the road to recovery and feel like she is going to be just fine. We want to say a special thank you to Aunt Donna Shirley, Uncle Marty, and a huge thank you to Bros. Greg Lowery for being here during the surgery. We had great conversations, prayers and laughs which certainly helped the time pass. I also want to say a special prayer for a family who have been in here with us, who were not as fortunate as we were this morning. My heart breaks for them so much. Witnessing their sadness definitely reminds you of how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken away. For now, I will try to call it a night and see if I can sleep sitting in this chair. I will post again tomorrow with her progress. Thank you everyone for everything you have done..... big or small, they mean so much!
