MANILA, Philippines - Tropical depression "Maring" gathered more speed as it continues to over in waters off Batanes province on Saturday afternoon. In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the center of "Maring" was estimated at 270 kilometers northeast of Itbayat town. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 5 kilometers per hour, moving east southeast at a speed of 11 kph. PAGASA lifted the public storm warning signal it hoisted over the Batanes Group of Islands. Meanwhile, PAGASA said Metro Manila and nearby provinces including Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon will experience moderate to heavy rains in the next three hours as the cyclone was expected to enhance the southwest monsoon.
