MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit Sarangani late Tuesday, October 29, but no damage was expected from the tremor. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in its website that the earthquake was tectonic in origin and hit at 11:45 pm. The epicenter was 188 kilometers southeast of Sarangani province, which is located in the SOCCSKSARGEN region in Mindanao, southern Philippines. Phivolcs said no damage or aftershock is expected from the quake. Earlier this month, a magnitude 7.2 quake hit Central Visayas, killing over 200 people and destroying homes, bridges, roads, and iconic churches that drew tourists to the region. The provinces of Bohol and Cebu were the worst hit. The quake was so powerful it was also felt in Mindanao. – Rappler
