MARANOA ANIMAL RESCUE INCORPORATION The objects of the association are— • To implement best practice sustainable animals health programs that ensure animals have a right to life; this means the right to a decent life that protects them from cruelty, abuse neglect, mutilation and suffering. • To implement the five basic animal needs that ensures animal welfare: o freedom from thirst, hunger and malnutrition o provision of appropriate comfort and shelter o prevention of, or rapid diagnosis and treatment, of injury, disease or infestation with parasites o freedom from distress o the ability to display normal patterns of behaviour. • To recruit, train and utilise volunteers with the relevant skills to carry out the work of Maranoa Animal Rescue. • To rehabilitate, re-home abandoned neglected and unwanted animals into caring loving forever homes. • To assist the less advantaged communities to care for their animals by providing financial aid and education programs To educating the public, especially children, and to eradicate ignorance about animals. • To actively promote sterilization programs as an animal population control measure • To promote having every animal identifiable by micro chipping. • To write, print, publish, distribute and sell books, periodicals, magazines, pamphlets, posters, sound and visual recordings, and communications in any other form to further the objectives of Maranoa Animal Rescue. • To refer any cases of alleged cruelty and abuse to the appropriate authority or organisation capable of investigating the allegations and of instituting proceedings against the person or persons concerned, and of monitoring action taken. • To maintain an ‘open door’ policy between veterinarians, non-veterinarians animal welfare providers, and animal owners. • To allocate donations (such as money, food banks, vet care, foster carers time etc.) to animal welfare needs to allow for caring for animals, animal transport and shelter buildings. • To save native animals where possible. • To assist in humane disposal of feral animals along with farm/domestic pets, if and when required. Maranoa Animal Rescue Incorporated opposes the destruction of healthy animals but does accept there may be valid cases where euthanasia is the most humane option. Animals suffering with a painful terminal disease and animals that represent a danger to humans or other animals may only be euthanized by procedures which have proved to be painless. These procedures must be administered by a qualified veterinarian.
