MARION, SC KENNETH LEE GODBOLD, SR. Kenneth Lee Godbold, Sr., 88, died Sunday, August 31, 2014 at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Marion Baptist Church, burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, September 1, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Godbold was born in Marion, a son the late Blake and Belle Perritt Godbold. He is also predeceased by his brothers, Earl, Neil, Marion, Robert, and BW Godbold; and sisters, Martha Godbold, Alice Godbold, and Dot Bailey. He was a graduate of Marion High School. Mr. Godbold was a decorated veteran of WW II where he served in the US Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired as a store manager for B.C. Moores. Mr. Godbold was a member of Marion Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School class. He was a member of American Legion Post 5. Surviving are his wife, June White Baxley Godbold, of the home; sons, Kenneth L. Godbold, Jr. of Columbia, SC, Timothy Dean Godbold of Sumter, SC and Richard W. Baxley (Lisa) of Marion, SC; daughter, Linda G. Carter of Columbia, SC and Karen B. Lane of Anderson, SC; sister, Rilla G. Messick of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Shannon Carter Booth, Kristen L. Randall, Jarvis Lane, Brad Baxley, and Todd Baxley; and great-grandchildren, Emily Booth, Abigail Booth, Emma Grace Randall, and Lily Randall.
