MARKS BEST MOVIE SONGS EVER (1955-99) COUNTDOWN ... NO. 51 EVERYTHING I DO (I DO IT FOR YOU)--BRYAN ADAMS (#1, 1991, Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves) Adams co-wrote his second No. 1 hit (after 1985s Heaven, which also was from a movie called A Night In Heaven, but it didnt make this countdown because the movie was looooooooong a memory when Heaven got a second chance on the chart) with Michael Kamen and producer Robert John Mutt Lange for the 1991 Kevin Costner film Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, which also starred Morgan Freeman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Christian Slater and Alan Richman. This powerful ballad jumped to No. 1 within the Top 40 in four weeks and spent a mesmerizing seven weeks at No. 1 from late July through September 1991, but that was not even as much damage as the song did in Canada and the UK. In Adams native Canada, the song spent nine weeks at No. 1. But in England, the song rocked off Big Bens Tower ... well, may not quite like that, but spent a record 16 WEEKS AT NO. 1!! It is still the longest-running No. 1 hit in British chart history. It is one of the biggest hits in world music history, hitting No. 1 in over 20 countries and selling over 15 million copies, easily making it Adams biggest hit. But this is STILL not Costners biggest hit as an actor. Thats still later on. Thoughts, memories? Enjoy!
