MATCH REPORT GAME 1 Toss won by Lankan islanders 1st innings Lankan islanders. After a short rain delay, we commenced the game with Priyan the beast and Angelo the pocket rocket opening the batting. They got us off to a tremendous start with the first wicket of Angelo (21 runs) falling at 1 for 60. Which brought Shenal to the crease, Priyan and Shenal steady the ship with a scintillating partnership with Priyan ending up on well-earned 88 and Shenal with an entertaining 63. Next in was Nirmalan (18 runs) milking the singles around the park for a great launch pad for our finish. The innings was finished off with mark and Kevin P assisting Sutha for his flamboyant 18 of 5 balls. Finishing the islanders innings with 240 of 40 overs. 2nd innings of Marist Stellar With a massive total of 240 to defend or bowlers came out with a cunning plan. Our opening bowlers Pirenvan and Shenal followed the plan exactly with Shenal 2 for 19 of 7. Our spinners enjoyed the conditions which suited them, Tevin with a wonderful spell of 3 for 12 of 8, and Sutha with 3 for 36 of 8. Which ended their inning on 134. Overall a wonderful performance from the boys who came to the ground with a couple hours of sleep after landing that morning. A great first win for the boys and well earned.
