MATCH REPORT: HUDSON CELTIC 2 - 2 BURSCOUGH UNITED Today we seen what happens in these leagues when committees and refs are against you. Burscough romped the premier league last season but we knocked them out of the cup and we beat them this term in the league. They were a disgrace last time we met and there was iron girder at the end of the match which put the league in a bad spot. Because burscough caused it and because burscough have their chairman on the league committee AND because burscoughs stadium is used for cup finals the league decided to sweep the incident under the carpet so neither of us were fined. Only problem is that since this game we havent had one big decision go our way. A last minute refereeing change today meant that we had the same ref who told us that all the refs were talking about us just before he allowed 2 offside goals to knock us out of the cup! We had him today and he was an absolute joke! The worst of it is that he is one of their top refs so the decisions he makes shouldnt be mistakes so is he cheating? Today he nailed his colours to the mast.............and they were Burscough green! Considering all the pre match hype and both teams having a genuine dislike for eachother we could not believe we gifted them a tap in after 4 seconds! Big Joe passed back to the goalie from the kick off and severely under hit it giving their striker an early christmas present. We picked ourselves up and basically pummelled them for half an hour. We set up camp in their half had lots of possession and chances and hit the bar. It could only be a matter of time before we scored but suddenly out of the blue we found ourselves 2-0 down. With a long Burscum free kick lofted into the far post there seemed no danger as Josh Neary had it covered. Their big striker gave Josh a two armed shove in the back which and tapped a header in. They didnt celebrate because they knew it wouldnt be allowed to stand, but guess what?.........................IT DID STAND! We were shocked .........it was ridiculuos.............the ref was right there. I wanted to kick off, I wanted to call him a cheat, but would that have changed the deciscion? NO. Would it have gauranteed even less in our favour? DEFINITELY! We came in at half time 2-0 down with the lads feeling cheated and upset with a mountain to climb. We used the injustice of it to spark a comeback. It was difficult because we had to go for broke, Everyone had played well but we had to change. We went 4-4-2 and eventually swapped Jake,Josh and Max for Adam, Jamie and Richie. These lads had played great but we had to take chances, Adam is a buccannering full back who gets forward and although Josh had a stormer defensively we took the gamble. Jake and Max had done great but we altered the system and the attitude of the boys was first class. It was wave after wave of our attacks and Burscough were rocking. Our football was excellent and the 3 changes were making a diference. We got back in it with a tap in from Jordan King after Mikey Hutsons shot smacked off the post from range. Jord is known for his long range strikes but has had a recent knack of slotting from close range. at 2-1 we were swamping them and Adam Handford was having an impact and when one of his runs ended in a cross that the keeper spilled, Jordan prodded home from 2 yards for the equaliser. Try as we might we just couldnt get the win but every lad was great. With AFC demolishing redgate 9-0 we are 8 points behind in second place but as the second half showed today..............OUR BOYS WONT GIVE UP! MAN OF THE MATCH - WOZZA, SUPERB!
