CLEARING AND GRUBBING a) All surface objects and all trees, slumps, posts and other protruding obstructions, not designated to remain, shall be cleared and/or grubbed, including mowing as required. b) Limits of clearing and grubbing shall be extended 1.00 m beyond the toe of embankment and the rounding of cut slopes. 2. ROADWAY EXCAVATION a) Roadway excavation will include excavation and grading for roadways, intersections, approaches, slope rounding, benching waterways and ditches, removal of unsuitable materials from the roadbed and beneath embankment areas. b) All surplus and unsuitable materials excavated shall be disposed of or used for fitting low lying areas and leveled within free haul limits at the direction of the engineer. 3. EMBANKMENT a) Embankment on hillside shall be done by the construction of bench melted to avoid slip and or slide. b) In places where there are unsuitable materials that will be removed and replaced, embankment should be done earlier to allow soil subsidence for about three to six month prior to sub-grade leveling. c) Recommended slope for embankment: Hard rock = 0.75 : 1 Soft rock = 1 : 1 Silty sand or clay = 2 : 1 4. DRAINAGE STRUCTURES: a) Location, invert elevation of proposed structures and side ditches (lined and unlined canals) maybe adjusted to suit actual field conditions. b) Minimum longitudinal slope of drainage structures shall be 0.50% 5. SPECIFICATIONS a) Specifications to adopted for this project shall be the DPWH Standard Specifications 1988 Volume II (Highways and Bridges)
