MAUI SURF REPORT JULY 31st: Another moderate south-southwest swell is expected to arrive This morning to keep some surf going through the end of the work week. This swell was generated by a storm that passed south of New Zealand last week that made a turn into our swell window as it weakened and tracked toward French Polynesia. This energy could reach near advisory levels at its peak. Currently, a weak fetch is pushing our way from east-southeast of New Zealand which may be able to produce a small to moderate swell for early next week, but that is all that is expected out of the South Pacific through the period. Looking farther out, another tropical storm (Gil) is forecast to develop later in the week, following a similar path and lifecycle as Flossie. More details to come as that storm progresses.
