MAYOR BLOG!: I have been to Denver visiting grandchildren and have returned to many meetings and events. The spring weather is welcomed, but I wish the storms would calm down. The City is busy working with Code Red Notification Systems to get our warning system up and running. We are planning to have the infrastructure up in May. We also intend to repair our sirens using grants. Several of our First Responders and the City staff are working on that project. Be aware of bad weather! Our new Police cars have arrived. We are proud to be able to lease/purchase three cars, instead of our usual one car per year. We feel this is a much better choice for the City, as we will be able to purchase these cars at the end of the three years for a nominal fee. During that time all service, and even car washing, is covered. When I was first elected mayor, I received a call a week about Police events, usually with a complaint about an officers handling of the situation. We began to invest in cameras for our Police cars. Now, it is easy for us to watch the video and see what the real truth is. The cameras also protect the public. My complaint calls have disappeared. I am proud of our Police department and I would stack them up against any other department. You should be proud too, that as a small town we have a professional, trained department to protect you and your family. Have a great weekend!
