MB political bureau chief: Iran trying to talk to is, we refused. Iran not trustworthy. Iran and regime created ISIS. Proof? We know of some who used to be with regime, now they are with ISIS. They allowed ISIS to take over in Mosul to make Assad a needed partner in fighting the Islamists. ________________________________ Commentary: - Iran favors a prominent role for the brotherhood in Syrias government and Im aware of Iranian attempts to promote the brotherhood to the regime and its supporting (liberal) activists. There are talks with Turkey and Qatar about a solution. I have no details though. As for proof ISIS is a regime and Iranian invention: - if there are ISIS members who used to be part of the regime ... Can we use the same logic to imply that the Free Syrian Army is a regime invention? ... Why is it that when a soldier or officer joins the FSA, he is described as an honorable defector, but if he joined ISIS then he is proof ISIS = the regime? - Obviously ISIS, just like the other rebel groups, is infiltrated by the regime for intelligence gathering. - the hypothesis (or conspirathy theory) that Iran and Syria told Maliki to let ISIS take over Mosul so that the west will panic and realize it needs Assad is not entirely illogical, but it has two big holes: 1) if done for this purpose, the Iraqis would not have kept the $466,000,000 in cash (plus large amount of Gold) at their central bank in Mosul and 2) Maliki is an ally but not to this degree ... To give ISIS his second city only to help Assad? Which Arab ally did such a thing for a fellow Arab friend? - finally ... Last time the MBs tried to overthrow the regime by force in 1979 to 1982 ... They, and their supporters, always claimed the regime was behind all the terror that it needed to scare the population and the west from the brotherhood and the Islamists. But in a 2010 interview with the BBC, the leader of the brotherhood admitted they (the brotherhood) were indeed behind ALL the violence that was often blamed on regime machinations before. THAT is the most valuable lesson from history: yes the regime could be potentially (and even logically) blamed for being behind Islamists extremism, but last time the MB made those accusations, they ended up admitting they were always lying.
