MEA Statement : An incident occurred early this morning off Bahrain where one Indian fisherman by the name of Thomas Glattus Soosai from Tamil Nadu was shot dead by fire emanating from an Iranian vessel. He was on a fishing boat with seven (7) Indian fishermen on boat was attacked by an Iranian vessel in deep sea at around 0200 hours on 22 May 2014. The six other fishermen, who are safe The dead body of Thomas Glattus Soosai is currently at the mortuary in Salmania hospital in Bahrain and the Indian Embassy in Bahrain is in regular touch with the hospital and will take necessary action to transport the mortal remains to India.
