MEET AMIYA ~ Rescued & currently being nurtured back to health by our wonderful friends at St. Francis Angels. This girl was picked up on Sept 26 and brought to Galveston County Animal Resource Center and a volunteer reached out to SFA for rescue, because Amiya was in horrible shape. VIDEO: youtu.be/YkYuCMe8VuA Amiya weighs only twenty one pounds and judging when she could easily weigh twice that. She has two involved decubital ulcers, bed sores (which imply that she was a prisoner within some type of confined area). Her femur, long bone, is exposed on both sides. Dogs, even in a state of starvation typically do not remain sedentary long enough to suffer from ulcers this involved. She has numerous deep ulcers on her feet and one deep involved wound on her spine. Her hair and skin is literally falling off her skeletal structure. You can read the detailed report with her photos below. In spite of everything, she remains trusting and loving. No surprise to us or those who know dog behaviour well. You will also see in one of the photos that Amiya is wearing our doggie hoodie -- Although a bit grumpy-faced because we would not allow her to inhale her food, she does love her hoodie from Im Not a Monster! It is extremely soft inside and when we attempted to remove it, just momentarily, she became all grumpy and gave us this expression again. We feel like we are being wrapped around her little paw and loving every minute of it.
