** MEMORIAL BEACH UPDATE / ADVISORY ** A water sample was collected at Memorial and Centennial Beach on Tuesday, August 12th. Laboratory analysis showed cyanobacteria levels of 62,000 cells/ml and 30,000 cells/ml, respectively, both below the MDPH guideline level of 70,000 cells/ml. Microcystin toxin was not detected. According to the Mass. Department of Public Health (MDPH) guidelines, samples collected a week apart with levels below the guidelines are required before the advisory should be lifted. The results above will be considered the FIRST low samples. MDPH will sample again on Tuesday, August 19th. The City of Marlborough maintains its advisory AGAINST any and all swimming activities at Memorial Beach until we learn of the next results - likely on 8/21. Any beach goers that choose to swim in the water do so at their own risk! Thank you for your cooperation.
