MERA is pleased to introduce Winter Blues, a photographic collection by renowned artist, Beth Girdler. Taken in the Lanark Highlands region, these exquisite photographs capture quiet moments of beauty in what has been a long, cold Canadian winter. Girdlers photos are featured in the CD art of numerous recording artists, including three-time Juno award winner, David Francey. In addition to photography, Girdler is also an established water colourist whose works are included in collections across Canada and around the world. Her unique paintings are included in the collections of Pierce Brosnan, Sir Richard Attenborough, Annie Galipeau and Veronica Hamel, among others. As a trained biologist, Girdler is a keen observer of nature and the world around her. Winter Blues reflects this intense connection, embracing the natural juxtaposition of shadow, space and colour. Join us for the opening of Winter Blues this Sunday at MERA Schoolhouse from 2-4 pm. Her pieces will remain on display at the Schoolhouse throughout the month of March.
