MERITS OF CONFESSION! When Jesus quized his disciple as saying, "Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?". They were conservative of what the people said Jesus was until he told them to say whom they themselves said he was. After an interval of taciturn, Peter said, "Thou art Christ, the son of the living God". His great confession he made prompted Jesus to say, "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona..." he proceeded to say he would build the church upon the rock of Peter, and that the gates of hell will not prevail .He also added that he would give him the keys of the kingdom of heaven to bind and to loose with results approved by heaven. Matthew 16:13-19. These are the benefits of confessing Christ for he himself said, "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven". Matthew 10:32-33. This same Peter was prayed for, "But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren". Luke 22:32. Pessimistically enough, Peter denied Christ when he was arrested. In fact Peter was like Christ who was "..set for the fall and rising again of many..." Luke 2:34. Peter who earlier confessed Christ, later denied him thrice. But for the grace of God, after Jesus resurrection, he approached him thrice and said, "Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him,the Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep". John 21:15,16,17, It is highly advantageous we hold fast our confession we made on the day of our immersion in the River of baptism. We died, were buried and rose with Jesus Christ. Paul said, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me". Galatians 2:20. You must do your utmost to confess Christ in any situation to enable him to confess you before his Father in heaven. Let us give it a trial.
