MESA OVERRIDE BALLOT - Interesting Comparisons This District is asking for only a 10% Override - not 15%. It has the support of Tea-Party representatives in its region. Teachers are paid over $50,000 and stay longer. Voters have never turned down an Override request. Differences from Scottsdale? District Level Staffing never increased - Unlike SUSD which added 6% to its District Staff even when it was cutting Teachers last year, Mesa held District Employment flat. Efficient Use of Buildings - Low Cost Per Foot - 1/3rd less space per student. Dont get us wrong - Mesa is not without problems. But when the Mesa School District goes to its voters and says we really do need help voters believe the District and they seem to get the help. And that is the true difference - Mesa has credibility - SUSD needs to build that same reputation. Its hard to do it in just 5 months. Every press release, every news article and every public appearance must be focused on candor and transparency. It only takes one Six Cents a Day Speech to wreck the Override campaign. azcentral/story/news/local/mesa/2014/06/26/mesa-school-board-asks-budget-override/11404291/
