MGM Grand Casino Detroit - Detroit, MI ENGINEER/CARPENTER/PAINTER 1 Position Summary: It is the responsibility of an Engineer I - Face Team to perform routine to complex maintenance and repair work on all mechanical and electrical equipment and systems within the property while performing excellent guest service. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, as well as department and Company policies, practices, and procedures, within the framework and intent of the MGM Grand Detroit Mission Statement. Essential Functions: Performs routine to complex maintenance and repair work on all mechanical and electrical equipment and building automation systems. Completes all jobs assigned by management. Maintains and repoaris all guestrooms in accordance witht he FACE procedures and standards guidelines. Recognizes when equipment is in need of repairs, adjustments, or replacement. Prepares and maintains a daily log of all rooms completed. Inputs appropriate work into FACE/program. Advises supervisor of any unusual conditions. Performs assigned duties during emergency situations. Maintains a constant awareness of safety and accident prevention.. Obtains necessary formal training and certifications required for future advancement within the Engineering Department. Promotes and maintains the highest level of customer service to all guests while staying alert to their needs. Responds effectively to guest inquiries related to MGM Grand Detroit and the downtown Detroit area providing excellent guest service. Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Two years’ work experience in Maintenance Engineer, preferably in a hotel, resort, or industrial complex. Knowledge and ability to repair: Hobart/commercial dish machines; Combi oven/Baxter/Garland; Basic electrical trouble shooting and schematic; broasters/fryers; calibrate equipment; gas equipment-adjust burners. Experience in restaurant repair, gas and electrical refrigeration. CFC license required. Completion of post-secondary engineering program preferred. Self-motivated, with excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Must be able to function and act independently. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time. Ability to push and pull heavy items and equipment. Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting. Ability to work in an environment where pipe, cigar, and cigarette smoking is permitted. Ability to multi-task several activities and duties simultaneously. Ability to function and act independently. Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral. Ability to function in a fast paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines. Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
