MIAMI — Coast Guard rescue crews from Air Station Clearwater, Florida, are enroute to medically evacuate crewmembers from the 584-foot cargo ship JS Comet currently anchored three miles off the Coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Coast Guard received a call Tuesday morning from the captain of the vessel reporting 19 out of 21 crewmembers of the South Korean-flagged vessel were experiencing symptoms of food poisoning and were in need of medical assistance. Due to deteriorating weather conditions and the condition of the vessel’s crew, the Coast Guard has decided to dispatch aircrews and medical personnel to the ship to medevac members of the crew in need of immediate medical assistance. The Coast Guard will provide additional information regarding this case as it becomes available.
