MICAF’s initiative is to revive art within the heritage area that goes along with its theme of Art Revival. Malacca is known for its rich history and its culture. The display of art is prominent along Perbadanan Muzium Melaka (PERZIM), Youth Museum, Folk Art Gallery and crossing over to the vicinity of heritage streets. In the recent years, the art scene in Malacca has been under the limelight to bring back contemporary art into its city centre that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hence, MICAF aims to revive Malacca as a new art destination within this historic city. MICAF is majorly supported by both local and international artists in which they will participate in these 4 days art congregation that include art workshops, photography talks, Art Talk and outdoor painting and sketching. Bearing in mind that Malacca is strategically situated in between 3 busiest tourist gateways; Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Singapore. The journey from these gateways to Malacca takes less than 3 hours, thus it proves to be a great location whereby tourists from local and overseas can converge to celebrate this international art festival. Nevertheless, this UNESCO World heritage site will be deemed as an art village. An array of arty masterpieces such as paintings, sculptures and performance art will be on display within the art village. Tourists who cruise along the art trail will witness a showcase of artworks in art galleries, houses, and cafeterias that are more than 100 years old. In this art village, there are various antiques that can be seen to complement the ambience and the event itself. Adding on the excitement, local food delights and interesting souvenirs will be present for tourists to pick up and bring back to their homelands.
