MICROAGRESSIONS ARE GLOBAL The New York times ran an article on the Front Page on Saturday on Racial Nonaggressions that are subtle, offensive and hurtful. While the article seems to imply this is mostly a problem on college campuses, such disembodied racism is prevalent in civic social space and in business culture. None the less I appreciate shedding light in dark places. These emotional deficits and this racialized dementia seems to increase as we continue the advance to a multicultural world where miscreant islands of racial exclusivity are shrinking. Today there is a big story in Europe about the article run in Belgiums leading news paper showing a distorted picture of President Obama and the first lady as apes. Nothing Micro about that. DeMorgen is supposed to be a progressive newspaper. What a welcome on his first trip to Belgium and visit to EU institutions. People of good will no matter what nationality are outraged, and those across the African Diaspora are speaking out. Lend your voice. Email the Economist or the International Herald Tribune, or deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.english ( Belgium news in English.). I am posting the photo tweeted by Nigerian-born author Chika Unigwe. I apologize if you are offended. Karyn Trader-Leigh
