Zone 1, inbound over England - LG2 forms up with the rest of the squadron, in middle position (the safest). Zone 2, inbound over the English Channel - No enemy fighters. Zone 3, inbound over Target - One group of Messerschmitt Me-109 fighters attempts to engage, but is driven off by fighter cover. A second wave gets through but defensive fire from the Fortress causes them to miss. Bomb Run - Good Weather. Medium Flak, hit but no serious damage. Bombs off target, 0% within 1,000 feet of aim point. Zone 3, homebound over Target - Focke Wulf Fw-190s join the Me-109s in attacking the squadron but score no hits on LG2. Zone 2, homebound over the English Channel - No enemy fighters. Zone 1, homebound over England - Good Weather. LG2 takes her position in the landing pattern Landing - Safe! RESULT: Draw (Bombs off-target but B-17 returned safely to Base.)
