MOMMA HERE: Were back from the vet. The lab finally sent the test results. Case diagnosis: this is a hemangiosrcoma; it is highly malignant and aggressive. His spirits are good, but he is continuing to lose weight - hes down to 63 pounds, when his ideal weight was around 72-74. Hes already had the splenectomy, and while thats not critical, it does have some impact. It wasnt my regular vet today, unfortunately, but this guy seems good too. He said that we can try chemotherapy, but its not going to change the end result. It MIGHT buy Jethro some time (maybe 3 months or so) but frequently it doesnt seem to make any real difference. He did say that this isnt a particularly painful cancer, probably wont need pain meds - hell just gradually lose the battle. At this point, Im not going to put him through a treatment thats not going to fix him, and may cause other issues. Im going to help him live out his remaining days with as much joy and love as I can provide. When he loses his smile, Ill help him grow his wings. Please respect this decision, or if you cant, leave the page quietly. The subject is not open to debate.
