MOMMY QUESTION: Anyone else deal with extreme anxiety from their LOs when it comes time to going back to school after an extended break? I noticed this behavior first when he missed a few days + the weekend due to strep, even though he was well again he didnt want to go back Monday, kept saying but Im sick, or Im too embarrassed, today wont be a fun day, just let me stay home today and Ill go tomorrow...etc while the first day back is usually a struggle, after getting him to go he is usually fine the next day. He did the same thing after an extended weekend due to a dental appt (he had a bit of work done and was home 4 days) and today was by far the worst, he returned to school today from winter break and got dressed for school and there wasnt trouble until it came time for shoes, then all hell broke loose, every excuse in the book he could think of and when we arrived he refused to exit the car, grabbed the steering wheel was screaming and the principal literally helped me pry him out of the car. Because hes done this before (not to the extent he did today) but has always adjusted back into routine the next day I havent been super concerned but also since it has progressed I am getting worried.
