MONDAY MARKETING TIP: Want to know how to create a blog and attract new prospects? I’m glad that you’re considering starting a blog for your business. It’s a great way to help your target audience and develop trust. Not to mention it will improve the SEO performance of your website. If you don’t have a website yet, your blog is the perfect way to start. Just having a site with one-way content promoting your products and services isn’t good enough anymore. You need to be constantly developing and adding valuable content to your website. So to support your social media marketing strategy and possibly kick-start your content marketing strategy, here’s how to create a blog and attract new prospects. Research from Inside View suggests that business marketers who use blogs generate 67% more leads than those that don’t. 67% more leads than you’re getting right now would be great wouldn’t it? I’m guessing that you haven’t started a business blog yet for one of the following reasons: 1. You think it’ll be too hard and you don’t think you have the time or resources, 2. You don’t know how you’ll keep coming up with relevant content, or 3. You don’t know where to start from the technical side of things I’ve got good news for you. Just as our media consumption and search habits have evolved, so has the technology and resources available for bloggers. I often write blogs while I’m in transit or waiting for someone using a dictation app on my phone. Just let your website provider know that you want to start a blog or newsfeed and they will enable you with the access and platform required. If they won’t, you really need to ask why they won’t. If you are a small new business with a limited budget you can easily get started on either Blogger or with a WordPress site. To help you continuously publish interesting, valuable content here are five tools and resources that I use every day: Dragon Dictation Dictating to this app is a lot quicker than typing and you can capture ideas, sentences and even entire blog posts whenever you like from wherever you are. Google Alerts Set up Google Alerts to flag content about the type of things that your audience would like to read about. The results will inspire and educate you. Evernote Use Evernote on your desktop, notebook, tablet and phone to collect photos, notes and web content for ideas for future blog posts. Never forget a thing. Google AdWords Keyword Tool This is more than a great way to choose powerful magnetic headlines. This tool will help you understand the type of words to use in your posts to speak to your audience and make it search engine friendly. Flickr Visual content is more important than ever. Search on Flickr to find images with creative commons that allow commercial use for your blog. By searching Flickr regularly you will even identify blog topic ideas from images that you come across. These are just some of the tools that I use to make my blogging experience easier and more fun. I’m still learning myself.
