MORAL COMPASS People of religious faith, those of no faith and the rest of us awash in the mystery can share many beliefs while disagreeing on others. We live in a secular world where the foundations of our personal and social morality are as diverse as life itself. Do justice, be a peacemaker and, above all else, love others. Those are my moral guidelines. Beyond the specifics of the recent Supreme Court ruling, there is a dangerous underlying arrogance embodied in its rationale – it is that some peoples interpretations of a particular religious text are more valued and are viewed as a superior “moral compass” than guidelines used by others. I reject that.
