MORNING ROLL CALL: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together [Church], as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. - Hebrews 10:24-25. This is a call, a command to attend Church. Since when did Church become optional for the true Christian? I invite my fair share of folks to Chr1st Fellowship Community Church and my experience has taught me there are 3 groups of people. The first group is already attending church elsewhere, good for them! The second group has more important things to do, not so good for them. The third group and by far the largest is that group who used to attend Church but, then they go on to share being disappointed, let down, offended, or some other negative experience that they had, often involving hypocrisy in leadership, very sad for them. If you fall into this third group let me just warn you that the enemy has won this battle in your life. You see Paul speaks of “enemies of the cross of Christ,” Philippians 3:18. Paul was not speaking of the Muslim Brotherhood that is, even now destroying Christian Churches and the homes of Believers throughout Egypt. He was not speaking of an American government that is becoming more Anti-Christian by the day. No Paul was speaking of a far more destructive enemy, an enemy that is found WITHIN the Church. An enemy that Paul literally wept over, for he knew how effective and devastating they would be. You see friends this enemy has a 3 fold purpose: 1) Sow seeds of disunity and division. 2) Sow seeds of doubt, fear and uncertainty, 3) DRIVE CHRISTIANS OUT OF THE CHURCH. Did you catch that? Oh you might not have recognized them as “enemies of the cross of Christ” because they were wearing suits or Sunday dresses, carrying Bibles, even in positions of leadership but make no mistake they exist in many, many, many Churches. And so I encourage you not to give up meeting together with other Christians. And when you think back to a past encounter that soured you to the Church, remember that person(s) that turned you off may very well have been sent by the enemy to do just that and guess what? It worked! If you are a true Christian stop making excuses and find a Church. I know CFCC is always looking for a few good members. Our motto, “Becoming 1 in Christ by Keeping Christ 1st”, is our commitment to one another and to Jesus Christ to give no ground to the “enemies of the cross of Christ” wherever they may be found.
