MOSCOW, ID - Students between the ages of 16 and 24 who have a disability are invited to take part in Disability Mentoring Days next month in Lewiston and Moscow. Disability Action Center, NW is accepting applications for the events on October 27th at the Red Lion Inn in Lewiston and on October 29th at the 1912 Building in Moscow. The events include an orientation breakfast, time spent shadowing the career of their choice, and a luncheon with the mentors. From Disability Action Center, NW: Disability Mentoring Day is a nationwide effort to promote career development for students with hands-on exploration. By matching students with mentors in our community, we can give them an opportunity to “test drive their dream job,” says project coordinator Aerius Franklin. The program is offered at no cost to the student. Qualified candidates will have passing grades and demonstrate effort in their coursework. Students must not have current or recent disciplinary issues and must show an interest in participating in DMD. All qualified students with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Deadline for applications is September 30th and October 1st. Applications available online at DACNW.org and at area local high schools.
