MOSES PURPOSE? ************************ Moses purpose was to testify of, and point forward to, the Christ (Anointed One - Messiah). ___________________________________________ WHAT ABOUT THE COMMANDMENTS GOD GAVE MOSES? The Old Covenant (10 Commandments) are gone. The law served its purpose as a tutor - guardian, to keep us until faith (Messiah) has come. _______________________________________ TERMS MEANING THE 10 COMMANDMENTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED: 1. blotting out the handwriting took it out of the way nailing it to His Cross ------ Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (10 Commandments) that was against us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross. ____________________________________________ 2. that which is done away ------ 2 Corinthians 3:11 For if that which is done away was glorious (10 Commandments), much more that which remains is glorious (laws of Christ written on our hearts). _____________________________________________________ 3. that which is abolished ------ 2 Corinthians 3:13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished (10 Commandments). ________________________________________ 4. He hath made the first old that which decays that which waxes old is ready to vanish away ------ Hebrews 8:13 In that He saith, A new covenant, He hath made the first old. Now that which decays and waxes old is ready to vanish away. _____________________________________________ THE LAW (10 COMMANDMENTS) WAS GIVEN TO DRIVE US TO FAITH: Galatians 3:19-22 Wherefore then serve the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed (Messiah) should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. ------ Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. ------ Is the law against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been given by the law. ------ But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. ____________________________________________ BELIEVERS ARE FREE FROM THE LAW! Galatians 19:23-29 But before faith came, (Jesus Christ) we were kept under the law, and shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. ------ Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. ------ But after that faith is come (Messiah), we are no longer under a schoolmaster. ------ For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. ------ For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. ------ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond (in prison) nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. ------ And if ye be Christs, then are ye Abrahams seed, and heirs according to the promise. ______________________________________________________
