MSAD 15 RECEIVES US LACROSSE GRANT For the second year in a row the communities of Gray and New Gloucester have received grants from US Lacrosse to help grow the sport of lacrosse. This year MSAD 15 received the US Lacrosse Physical Education (PE) Workshop Grant, one of four school districts in the nation! The grant will provide in-service training for all PE teachers, community lacrosse leaders and awards a set of soft lacrosse equipment to each of the district’s schools represented at the workshop. This workshop will enable the PE teachers to introduce and teach the sport of lacrosse using soft lacrosse equipment, rules and skills. The PE teachers will leave the workshop feeling confident and able to teach students how to play co-ed soft lacrosse in a fun, age-appropriate and safe manner allowing all children involved to learn the game. Karen Caprio, MSAD 15 Director of Curriculum and Staff Development adds, “We feel fortunate to be the recipient of the US Lacrosse Professional Development Grant. This training, coupled with the equipment provided to our schools will enhance our program and give students another opportunity to engage in an activity that promotes wellness and healthy lifestyles.” “This grant enables all children in the district to be exposed to the sport of lacrosse. Lacrosse is currently the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and the Patriot Lacrosse Club is excited to finally offer lacrosse to kids in our communities.”
