MSD of Decatur Township Names Scott DeFreese as Principal of Decatur Central High School Tonight, the School Board of the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township approved Superinedent, Dr. Matt Prusiecki’s recommendation to appoint Scott DeFreese to the position of Decatur Central High School Principal. Scott DeFreese began his education career in 1995 as a teacher in the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) District. Prior to his appointment as Principal of Decatur Central High School, Mr. DeFreese served as the Academic Dean of New Tech High at Arsenal Tech in IPS. He developed New Tech High into a National Demonstration Site for the national New Tech Network. In 2011 Mr. DeFreese received the Chad Wicke Social Justice Award for recognition of high graduation rates and college placement of minority students at 20% higher than the district average. “Mr. DeFreese brings an impressive amount of passion, energy and experience, which will ensure success as principal of Decatur Central High School,” said Dr. Prusiecki, “We are excited to welcome him to Decatur Township Schools.” ###
