MUCH ADO ABOUT GEN. BUHARIS AGE The probable presidential candidature of former Head of State,Gen.Muhammadu Buhari,is being dismissed by some on account of his age.The way some of Buharis critics harp on the string of his age makes u wonder if the Nigerian presidency is a pugilist school!Gen. Buhari is the furthest imaginable from William Shakespeares slippered pantaloon. He is as fit as a fiddle. Interestingly,none has attacked Buharis mental ammo or personal integrity -two attributes of viable candidate.Students of Americas presidential history tell us President FDR was confined to wheelchair towards the end of his third term.He would later die in his sleep.Roosevelt ranks among Americas best president!Vice President Joe Biden is believed to be nursing a presidential ambition for 2016.And Biden, who is almost 20 yrs older than Obama, wl be 73 in 2016!Also, Hillary Clinton who became a grandmother on Friday, is pushing seventy.She has never dissembled her presidential ambition for 2016.She has started a subtle campaign,visiting Mexico early this month.So far her age is not an issue among Americans.What is of moment to them is her ability to do the job if elected! The framers of our constitution knew better than impose age limit on a prospective presidential candidate.afterall,age is nectar. We are today besieged by thieves in public offices.We need a moral compass to lead us out of this mess.Age is no barrier to performance.But lack of integrity & senility are barriers.
